The filtration in air conditioning systems
Viktorin, Michal ; Andrys, Petr (referee) ; Rubina, Aleš (advisor)
The diploma thesis is divided into three parts, analysis of the topic and the chosen method of solutions, application to specified building and experimental solutions and data processing The first part is theoretical. It is about air filtration in terms of normative and legal requirements and variants of technical solutions for air filtration. In the second part there are two technical solutions for HVAC systems for plastic surgery. The third part is experimental. It is the measurement of the number of particles in the air in the operating room and the evaluation of the measurement.
Evaluation of cutting fluids aerosol contamination of working environment during metal turning
Svoboda, Svetozár ; Mukhametzianova, Leisan (referee) ; Kotek, Luboš (advisor)
The thesis deals with the contamination of the workspace with a liquid aerosol, which is generated by scattering and evaporation of the cooling fluid. Cooling fluid are primarily intended to lubricate, cool and clean the tool and the workpiece, but the unwanted side effect is the formation of a liquid aerosol that holds in the air of the workspace. In such a contaminated work environment, the operator is exposed to a certain dose of a liquid aerosol that causes dermatological and respiratory problems. The topic of the thesis was to find out the number of particles of liquid aerosol that arises under varying working conditions and its dispersion in space. This amount was determined by image analysis using a high-speed camera.
Design of the methodology of measurement for evaluation of filtration efficiency of portable air cleaners and purifiers
Dvořáková, Michaela ; Bělka, Miloslav (referee) ; Lízal, František (advisor)
This work focuses on the research and comparison of several types of air purifiers. It clarifies the principles of filtration and describes the basic types of air purifiers. Part of this work is designed methodology of measurement for comparison of filtration efficiency and filtration rate. The experimental part of this work contains the measurement and comparison made for two types of air purifiers. Selected purifiers were De’Longhi AC230 with mechanical filters and ionic air purifier Ionic-CARE Triton X6. Within the framework of this work an experimental set-up was constructed in the home environment for the simulation of real conditions for the function of the air purifiers. The measurement results provide information about aerosol number concentration process during the measurements and evaluation of filtration efficiency of air purifiers.
Atmospheric particles and their measurement
Kantor, Radek ; Elcner, Jakub (referee) ; Bělka, Miloslav (advisor)
The aim of this work is to find out what aerosols are, what properties they possess and how they can be measured. In today’s age, the term particles in the atmosphere, is highly talked about because it is known, that particles in the air can be inhaled and cause health problems. By measuring properties of particles from different sources, we can find out the danger level of such particles. One sample was measured by several different techniques and analyzed. Thanks to this analysis we can determine size distribution of particles and then their possible danger.
Deposition of inhaled particles in a model of child lungs
Čederle, Jakub ; Pokorný, Jan (referee) ; Lízal, František (advisor)
This thesis presents a summary of research of deposition of inhaled particles in children’s respiratory system which was mainly conducted on realistic model of children's lungs. Experimental part introduces BUT model representing airways of 5-years-old child which served for measurements of regional deposition. Bachelor's thesis furthermore sums up basic knowledge of respiratory system and points out anatomical and physiological differences between children and adults in given field. There are described basic deposition mechanisms and their impact on aerosol therapy as well.
Condensation aerosol generator - range of operation
Súkeník, Michal ; Chovancová, Michaela (referee) ; Lízal, František (advisor)
In this bachelor thesis I deal with condensation aerosol generator and its range of operation. This device is based on controlled heterogenous condensation and is widely used in different fields such as inhalation studies, testing filters or calibration of measuring devices. The primary aim of the thesis is to verify the quality of producing aerosol and the depandance on the operation conditions. I also deal with methods of generated aerosols as well as their statistical description.
Low-cost sensors for measurement of particulate matter
Dvořáková, Michaela ; Pokorný, Jan (referee) ; Lízal, František (advisor)
This work focuses on the research and comparison of several types of low-cost sensors for measurement of particulate matter. It clarifies the principles of aerosol particles measurement and focuses on the reasons of using low-cost sensors. It provides basic information about the impact of aerosols on human health. The experimental part of this work compares quality of the obtained results considering the price of the respective devices.
Ultrafine particles filtration efficiency of commonly available materials
Kudláčová, Martina ; Köbölová, Klaudia (referee) ; Sitek, Tomáš (advisor)
In connection with the outbreak of the COVID19 pandemic, there has been a global shortage of personal respiratory protective equipment against ultrafine particles. The citizens were forced to reach for the alternatives and use homemade cloth masks for personal protection. The efficiency of the protection provided by a cloth mask is related to the selection of a suitable material for its production. This thesis contains basic knowledge in the field of aerosol theory, transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes the COVID19 disease and filtration of aerosol particles containing the virus. Based on the theoretical knowledge from the first part, an experimental measurement is performer determining the efficiency of filtration and pressure loss of selected commonly available materials. Based on the results comparison, the most suitable materials for the homemade masks production are selected.
Smoothing device for FDM 3D prints
Dubský, Jan ; Čudek, Pavel (referee) ; Bayer, Robert (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with a design of a device that would smooth out 3D prints, made of various materials, using FDM 3D printers. It explains the principle of 3D printing and describes technologies used in 3D printing. In this work is an overview of materials used for 3D printing and of some selected organic solvents. It describes methods of vapour smoothing and aerosol smoothing that can be used for smoothing out of 3D prints surface. The vapour smoothing method was experimentally tested using these solvents: acetone, dichloromethane, chloroform and tetrahydrofuran. The aerosol smoothing method used a solution of acetone and dichloromethane in the ratio of 1:1. Both methods were tested on samples made of PLA, ABS, PETG and SBS. This paper describes the design of a device for smoothing of 3D prints with regard to the chemical compatibility of used construction materials and ease of use of the device.
Measurement and numerical simulation of inhaled particles in models of human lungs
Kvapil, Jakub ; Elcner, Jakub (referee) ; Lízal, František (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with lung models for deposition measurement and computer simulations of inhaled particle deposition. The latest findings were reviewed. The basics of human respiratory anatomy and physiology are also presented. The measurement of chitosan particle deposition was performed by a fluorometric method on the lung model, results were evaluated and compared with literature.
